Who We Are

Angel Alonso Varona is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience at large international banking groups and consulting experience in different industries and functions. He started his career as a financial analyst and was also a consultant with McKinsey and Company.

Angel has most recently served companies in the Medical Devices, Software and Agricultural Laboratories industries in consulting and interim roles. As a consultant he has led a large carve out and integration process, re-defined operations, and defined commercial strategies. He has also successfully served as interim COO, and as interim CFO.

During his banking years Angel was part of Banc Sabadell’s technology leadership team, where he was involved in the set up of the governance model and the integration of UK local providers into Sabadell’s platform. He spent six years at Barclays, where he performed a number of senior roles, starting as Chief Operating Officer of Barclays Bank in Spain where amongst other things he managed the integration of the Spanish IT Operations with Barclays UK and the launch of several key projects supporting the repositioning of Barclays. He moved to London in 2012, where he joined the Barclaycard O&T leadership team, leading the design of the project portfolio management processes and the governance of the area, and where he took responsibility over the Operations and Technology strategy and the Risk and Control framework. Angel was also Chief Operating Officer of UBS in Spain, where he co-lead a deep restructuring of the business during the financial crisis. Before joining UBS, Angel spent nine years at Citigroup, where he held various local and regional leadership roles. He became COO of Citibank Spain and was later appointed CEO and Chairman of Citifinancial. 

As a consultant at McKinsey and Co. Angel participated in several projects in Spain, Argentina and Perú covering amongst other areas organizational change, management information systems, risk management, product development and IT outsourcing. 

Angel holds a Bachelor degree from the Universidad de Deusto in Spain, and an MBA from New York University. Angel shares his residence between the United Kingdom and Spain.

Javier Celaya Mingot

Managing Director

Javier Celaya is a seasoned professional in the financial and technological sectors, with a career spanning over three decades. He has held key positions in companies such as Topii, Oesia, Banco Santander, Bankia, McKinsey, and IBM, including roles as Chairman of the Board, CEO, CFO, CTO, and Head of Innovation and Sales and Marketing.

Recently, Javier has been leading a fintech with a presence in Spain and the USA, successfully completing several capital rounds. He has consulted for over 30 companies across Europe and Latin America.

He has been a member of 10 boards of small and multinational companies in technology, human resources, operations, and finance, and has served on Executive Committees, Audit Committees, and Remuneration Committees.

Javier is recognized as a payments expert, with experience in Topii, Bizum, EBA Clearing, REDSYS, Visa Europe, Servired, Mobipay, Iberion, and Halcash.

Academically, Javier holds an MBA from the University of London and a degree in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He is also an investor in several startups and holds US certifications in Innovation and M&A.
